Get your Home Spring-Ready

As we approach the month of April, hopefully the snow is done for the season, though we North Easterners know that it doesn’t always go away that easily. But keeping in a positive state of mind, here are some things you can do to get your home ready for the fresh air, sunshine and warmth of spring and summer:

  1. Deep clean your home:
Spring is a great time to give your home a thorough cleaning. This includes dusting all surfaces, vacuuming carpets and furniture, cleaning windows, and scrubbing floors.
  2. Declutter and organize:
Spring cleaning also means decluttering and organizing your home. Go through each room and get rid of any items that you no longer need or use. Donate or sell items that are still in good condition, and throw away anything that is broken or damaged.
  3. Change your bedding and linens:
Switch out your heavier winter bedding and linens for lighter, brighter ones that are more suitable for spring. This will help give your home a fresh, new look.
  4. Bring in fresh flowers and plants:
Adding some greenery and flowers to your home can instantly brighten up any room. Consider adding some potted plants, fresh flowers, or even a small herb garden.
  5. Check your outdoor spaces:
Spring is also a great time to check your outdoor spaces and make any necessary repairs or updates. This includes checking your roof, gutters, and siding, as well as inspecting your outdoor furniture and cleaning your grill.
  6. Air out your home:
During the winter months, our homes can become stuffy and stale. Open up your windows and let in some fresh air to help improve the air quality and bring in some much-needed ventilation.
  7. Prep your garden and landscaping: If you have a garden, spring is the perfect time to get it ready for planting. This includes cleaning up any debris, tilling the soil, and adding any necessary nutrients or fertilizer. For your landscaping, fresh mulch and flowers will certainly add curb appeal.

By following these tips, you can get your home ready for spring so when the season does change you can enjoy the warmer weather and sunshine that comes with it.
